DIAGNOSTICS & REPAIR

Computer Diagnostics & Repair for Imported Cars

Dealer-level scan tools, honest answers, and deep diagnostic expertise for European imports in Englewood, CO.

What we do, in plain English

Modern European cars run on dozens of networked control modules. A flashing warning light is rarely the real story — it's a code pointing at a system that needs to be tested, not guessed at.

We connect manufacturer-level scan tools to your vehicle, read every module on the bus, and walk you through exactly what's failing and what it will cost to fix. No upsells, no guesswork.

ABS, airbags & electrical faults

Warning lights for ABS, traction control, airbags and power steering almost always trace back to a specific sensor, module, or wiring fault. We test before we replace.

  • Wheel-speed sensor and tone-ring diagnosis
  • ABS pump and control-module testing
  • SRS / airbag fault codes and squib circuit checks
  • EPS (electric power steering) torque-sensor faults
  • CAN-bus and wiring repairs, including water-damaged harnesses
  • Battery management and parasitic-draw testing

Engine diagnostics

A check-engine light is a starting point, not a diagnosis. We pull freeze-frame data, monitor live sensors, and verify the failure before quoting parts.

Misfires, oil consumption, rough idle, loss of power, turbo problems, EVAP and emissions codes — we work through them systematically on gasoline and diesel European engines.

Driving with an unresolved misfire or low-oil-pressure warning can destroy a catalytic converter or seize an engine in minutes. Get it checked.

Automatic transmission diagnostics

Automatic gearboxes (AT, CVT, DSG/DCT) are precision hydraulic-electronic systems. Most failures show up as electronic fault codes long before mechanical damage starts.

We read transmission-specific modules, monitor live clutch and solenoid data, and check fluid condition under load. That tells us whether you need a fluid service, a mechatronic repair, or a full rebuild.

Don't keep driving a car that's slipping, shuddering on light throttle, or refusing to shift. Continued use turns a $400 service into a $5,000 rebuild.

Transmission warning signs

If you notice any of the following, schedule a diagnostic visit before the next long drive.

  • Hard or delayed engagement when shifting into Drive or Reverse
  • Shuddering or vibration at light throttle, especially 30–50 mph
  • Slipping — engine revs climb without matching acceleration
  • Burnt smell from the transmission cooler or fluid
  • Whining, humming or clunking noises that change with speed
  • Check-engine, gearbox, or 'limp mode' warning lights

A transmission that has gone into limp mode is protecting itself. Have it scanned the same day — don't reset the light and keep driving.

How to extend transmission life

Most European transmission failures are preventable with the right service interval and the correct fluid.

  • 1Service the fluid every 40,000–60,000 miles, even if the manufacturer calls it 'lifetime'.
  • 2Use only the exact OEM-spec fluid — generic ATF can ruin a modern gearbox.
  • 3Let the car warm up for 30–60 seconds before driving in cold weather.
  • 4Come to a full stop before shifting between Drive and Reverse.
  • 5Avoid towing or hauling loads beyond the factory rating.
  • 6Address small leaks immediately — low fluid burns clutches first.

Common transmission myths

  • 'Lifetime fluid' really means the life of the warranty, not the life of the car.
  • A flush won't 'kill' a healthy transmission — neglected fluid will.
  • Slipping is rarely fixed by an additive; it's a mechanical or hydraulic issue.
  • DSG/DCT gearboxes need scheduled service just like a traditional automatic.

Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI)

Buying a used European car? Bring it to us first. A two-hour inspection can save you thousands.

  1. 01

    Module scan

Read every control module on the car and check stored, pending and historical fault codes.

  2. 02

    Mechanical inspection

Engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, steering, exhaust and drivetrain checked on a lift.

  3. 03

    Fluids & leaks

Condition and level of every fluid, plus inspection for leaks at every gasket and seal.

  4. 04

    Written report

Photo-documented summary with severity ratings and realistic repair estimates you can use in negotiation.

Timing belts & chains

On most European engines, a failed timing component means a destroyed engine. Replace on schedule — not when it breaks.

  • OEM kits with tensioners, idlers, water pump and seals
  • VW/Audi TSI/TFSI chain and tensioner replacement
  • BMW N20/N26/N47 timing-chain service
  • Mercedes M271 balance-shaft and chain repair
  • Diesel timing-belt service with injection-pump timing

Scheduled maintenance

Following the correct service schedule with the right fluids is the cheapest insurance you can buy on a European car.

Every visit

  • Engine oil and filter with OEM-spec oil
  • Multi-point inspection of brakes, tires and suspension
  • Battery health and charging-system test
  • Module scan for stored or pending fault codes
  • Top-off and inspection of all under-hood fluids

Seasonal & mileage-based

  • Transmission fluid and filter (40k–60k miles)
  • Brake fluid flush every 2 years
  • Coolant service every 4–5 years
  • Spark plugs and ignition coils on schedule
  • Cabin and engine air filters
  • Winter prep: battery load test, tire condition, fluids
